La La Lag

July 20, 2007

Lag What is it about lag that makes everyone so mad. Ok thats just a silly question. We all hate lag when it happens. Nothing is more annoying then having a perfect gaming day, only to load up into a game and have the other player lag lock it. So what options do we have when there is lag? Well for those of us that actually care about our records we deal with it and hope to pull away with the win. For those of us that don’t care about our records, we say gg jerko and just leave. What I hate about lag the most is that my brain works way faster then what is going on in the lagged playing field. I start to second guess myself and my initial instincts come into question making my reactions slower and sluggish. After a laggy game I have a headache. I hate lag and noobashes equally. La La Lag…

Marvel vs Capcom 2

July 6, 2007

MvC2 Seems like today I am in the mood to blog about arcade games. Well, I remember playing all the classic Super Nintendo and arcade fighting games. Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter being two of my all time favorites. At the end of the 90′s Marvel vs Capcom 2 was released to wide praise in the gaming community. In this game you could play with 3 characters, call in assists from any of your characters, have super powers that could be used at one time with 1, 2 or all three of your characters. These were tough battles that would play out over the course of 90 seconds. A few years before that, in High School, I would walk to the local donut shop and play the original MvC with my friend Sam and whoever else was ready to get owned. So years later, it was a natural transition to play the sequel. Many long hours after work and even at the student union I spent playing this game. My favorite team of all time would be Felicia, Juggernaut and Sentinal. Generally speaking, Felicia was one of those unused characters, Juggernaut was widely considered inferior and Sentinel was considered a good choice. I had some great classic matches in my day, oh and just one more thing, please hold the Cable Cheese, k thnx.

Galaga

July 6, 2007

Galaga Ah, one of my all time favorite games. This space shooter was my first arcade game I really got into. My uncle owned a machine and he kept it in his garage. This was at least a decade and a half ago if I recall correctly. I remember starting with maximum lives and then all I had to do for extra credits was click a button inside the machine, which wasn’t hard at all because the coin slot door was unlocked. So I would sleep over at my Aunts house, play some pool with my Uncle and then load up on my Galaga fix. A few days ago I met Xinterp and his gf for the first time at the Santa Monica Pier we went to the arcade after a good meal and when I saw Galaga it was like the old days. These were Good times, I have Good memories, Its a Great game. If you feel like playing Galaga right now on your PC, here is the Flash Player Version

The Internet Ah the many joys of the internet. You pay a company to provide you with a reliable internet connection. All they have to do for you is to keep the signal flowing with no interruption and you would gladly pay the bill. You come home from a long day, you just want to kick back and browse the web or play your favorite net game. Then you get this generations blue screen of death, you are unable to connect to the internet. We all have experienced this. Our long list of steps we use to find to what the problem is: Maybe its our modem, unplug replug, maybe its our router, unplug replug, maybe its a virus, scan and quarantine, maybe its our browser, uninstall install… only to find out that its the damn ISP going down in your area. Honestly, I’d pay a hefty price for satellite internet, but seriously just make sure I’m getting what I am paying for and I dont have to call my ISP ever or go through the above steps to figure out why my net is down..

Comapny of Heroes The Double the Gren’s, Double the Suck Strategy has received a huge amount of attention lately. Not only has my, first go at the strategy replay, been downloaded over one thousand times now. But my new friend and devoted blog reader Mike aka Comrade One who additionally was one of the participants in the first round of Play Vitensby and Aniketos, has the hottest replay on the forums right now using this strategy. As a little background to read before you post, this strategy was something I talked about on Tales of Heroes for a while and never bothered to do it until a few days ago. Its basically a Tier 2 variant on my PiOP strategy, which was similar but to Boom and Tech to Tier 3, skipping your Wehrmacht and going straight to Sturm. To me, it was something I was thinking of being just for fun and was never intended to be used competitively on ladder. With some debate going on lately about my strategy and its place in competitive play, I wanted to read: What your thoughts on the competitive viability of my strategy are?
